TEKCAST – a spin casting technology with vertical axis of flexible mould rotationThe technology of spin casting in flexible moulds was developed by TEKCAST – an American Company offering very interesting solutions in both design and technology. TEKCAST is a highly efficient (especially in large lot production of small castings) method of spin casting of non-ferrous metal alloys into flexible moulds. It is also suitable for prototype-making, when the “from idea to first casting” time should be as short as possible. TEKCAST is a good supplement of other near-net-shape technologies, introducing quite novel solutions in materials and machine design. TEKCAST belongs to a group of special technologies assigned mainly for the manufacture of near-net-shape castings produced in weight ranges from 1 gram to several dozen decagrams. Cast materials used in this technology include alloys of zinc, tin, lead, sometimes also aluminium and low-melting alloys. The alloy very popular in TEKCAST technology is ZAMAK. The technology is used by the well-known world companies, e.g. HYUNDAI, AUSTIN, SINGER, itd.
The main advantage of this technology is the short time required for making a die and the ready castings, prototypes included.
